DIY Vanilla Bean Sugar: A simple way to elevate your baking

Updated: Feb 26

Vanilla bean-infused sugar is a simple yet luxurious ingredient that can transform your baking, coffee, tea or even morning oatmeal. The best part? It’s incredibly easy to make at home with just two ingredients. Whether you want to enhance your favorite recipes or create a thoughtful homemade gift, this vanilla sugar recipe is a must-try!

All you need is a mason jar or airtight container, 1 whole vanilla bean, and a cup and a half of sugar. I scrape out the vanilla seeds to use in another recipe, or you can add it to the sugar if you want. Put the vanilla bean in the sugar, cover with sugar, and leave it. Give it a few days to infuse.

Once your vanilla sugar has had time to infuse, the possibilities are endless! Stir it into your morning coffee, sprinkle it over fresh fruit, or use it in your favorite cookie and cake recipes for an extra touch of sweetness. I replaced the sugar in this creme brulee recipe https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/creme-brulee/ for a richer vanilla taste. Store it in an airtight container, and it will only get better with time. Give it a try, and let me know how you use it—I’d love to hear your ideas!
